Effect of yeast hydrolysate instead of plasma protein powder on performance of Weaned Piglets

2019-10-24

Plasma protein powder is widely used as a high-grade raw material in juvenile animal feed. However, in recent years, plasma protein powder has brought a lot of pressure to domestic feed enterprises due to the problems of biosafety, instability of foreign supply and uneven quality of plasma protein powder in China. The removal of plasma protein powder from juvenile animal diet has always been the focus of attention.

Dry yeast hydrolysate is rich in small peptides, free amino acids, nucleic acids, B vitamins and functional oligosaccharides. It has been widely concerned for its role in increasing the intake of young animals, improving immunity and promoting growth, and as a high-quality raw material to replace plasma protein powder.

The addition of yeast hydrolysate can increase the feed intake, improve digestion and absorption, and increase the growth rate of weaned piglets; and the partial or total substitution of plasma protein powder does not affect the quality of piglets, and can improve feed conversion rate. Carlson's study found that the production performance and gastrointestinal tract development of piglets were not affected after yeast hydrolysate completely replaced plasma protein powder. Mateo study showed that the apparent and standard ileal digestibility of crude protein and amino acid of yeast hydrolysate were similar to that of plasma protein powder. After weaning, piglets lost the very important source of nucleotide nutrition in human milk, and additional nucleoside and nucleotide supplementation could significantly improve the intestinal morphology and reduce the incidence of diarrhea. The purpose of this study was to further verify the effect of adding yeast hydrolysate to the trough material to replace plasma protein powder on the feeding and growth rate of piglets.

There was no significant difference in feed intake, growth rate and feed conversion rate of weaned piglets when yeast hydrolysate replaced imported plasma protein powder. There was no adverse effect on growth performance of weaned piglets when yeast hydrolysate replaced plasma protein powder.
